VERO BEACH MAN CLAIMS TOP PRIZE IN THE
$500,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLIER SCRATCH-OFF GAME
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announces that John Dalton, 67, of Vero Beach, claimed a top prize in the $500,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLIER Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. Dalton purchased his winning ticket from Hometown Supermarket, located at 4105 U.S. Highway 1 in Vero Beach.
Dalton said his routine is to buy two different Scratch-Off tickets and let his wife choose which one she wants to scratch. "My wife scratched her ticket and told me she had a $10 winner; when I told her that I thought I had a $500,000 winner she didn't believe me, she thought I had bought a fake ticket to trick her!"
The $5 game, $500,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLER launched on January 12 and features more than 7.5 million winning tickets and more than $113 million in total cash prizes! The game's overall odds of winning are one-in-4.23.
Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 65 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $734 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2015-16.
