THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, PUT MORE THAN JUST A SWEATER AND SOCKS UNDER YOUR TREE WITH FLORIDA LOTTERY SCRATCH-OFF GAMES TALLAHASSEE - Shoppers searching for the perfect gift this holiday season, look no further! The 2009 Florida Lottery collection of holiday Scratch-Off games make perfect party favors, great gifts and stocking stuffers for family and friends alike. Six holiday-themed Scratch-Off games, ranging in price from $1 to $10, will be available this holiday season. MERRY MILLIONAIRE, $250,000 TREASURE TREE, HOLIDAY TRIPLER and HOLIDAY CASH go on sale today; TROPICAL RICHES and STOCKING STUFFER launch on Tuesday, October 27. Lottery retailers will also provide specially-designed holiday gift envelopes for purchases of $5 or more, so customers can buy and package their Florida Lottery gifts with just one stop. "With all eyes on the economy and consumers scrutinizing their holiday budgets this season, Lottery Scratch-Off games make the perfect high-impact, low-cost gift," said Florida Lottery Product Development Director Vicki Munroe. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to enter non-winning $250,000 TREASURE TREE Scratch-Off tickets in the $5,000 Shopping Spree Second Chance Promotion on the Florida Lottery's Web site for a chance to win one of 10 grand prize $5,000 Visa gift cards, 10 second place $1,000 Visa gift cards and 30 third place $500 Visa gift cards, offered through a Florida Lottery partnership with Simon Mall and Visa. Unlike a store card or gift certificate which limits you to purchases only at that store, the Simon Gift card may be used to make purchases almost anywhere. As long as value on the card remains, you can use your card in as many stores as you like. Two second chance drawings will be conducted in this promotion; the first on Tuesday, December 15, for entries received from October 13 through December 14, 2009, and the second and final drawing taking place on the second Tuesday after the Scratch-Off game ends.
Florida Lottery Scratch-Off prizes must be claimed within 60 days of the end-of-game date for that game, which is announced in the Scratch-Off section of the Florida Lottery Web site. Florida voters, by a two-to-one margin, approved a constitutional amendment in 1986 authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. Today, Floridians continue to show their support by purchasing nearly $4 billion in Lottery products per year.
